Most Inept Congress in the History of Our Country

Sanctions on Russia causing Russia to hit us with billions of dollars of sanctions. They will buy elsewhere of do like they do in Cuba; do without. Time for formation of a third party. Start now and let me be a part. I can advertise my blog site and quadruple my viewers.

What sheer stupidity for a country teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and Socialism. Wise guys and women trying to run our company to thwart our President in every way possible. .

Sanctions, Embargos, Etc. - 90% Of Them Fail

Almost anything in the world can be gotten elsewhere for the sanctioned country. Did it work in Iran, Cuba, Yemen? NO. Did it really work anywhere where the country had a STRONG leader? If the sanctioned country people and industry REALLY CAN'T GET IT, they don't use it. Look at Cuba and N. Korea.

Trump, veto your weak Congress weak bill.

Michael Moore - Don't Leave the U.S.A. - Stay In a Coffin Along With Cartoonists Featured in the JS

Your coffin would need to be a U-Haul size and the cartoonists, especially the one featured today in the Peoria, Il. Journal Star, would need a semi. That would be okay as it could very well fit quite a few newspaper editors. Sorry folks, but this is "fake news" as featured on a daily basis by nationally and locally news medias.

Guess I May Be Wrong - But I Warned Long Ago About His "Shooting Himself In the Mouth"

Too bad. Only cause for any joy is that at least we didn't elect Hillary.

"Leaks" Coming From Democrat Holdovers and Democrat Bureaucrats

President Trump. you were sent to Washington to clean the swamp. Voters have little confidence in our law makers who are beholden only to their wealthy constituents only; most hoping for another entitlement like Ray LaHood's "entitlement to the the PRM of $5 million to this 'badly missed projection"; money taken from the highway stimulus bill.

When states like W.Virginia and Kentucky have more Medicaid people than private industry workers, something is emanating a bad smell.

And it's not just from Chicago.

Sex Change - Join the Military to Have Taxpayers pay For The Procedure and Future Resulting Medical Problems??

"Military Rejects More Transgender Recruits",.Not on their loyalty; of course not, but if everyone wants the government to pay more than the immense amount they already do for things certainly not in the Constitution or Bill of Rights, we might as well say we are a Socialistic Country and turn everything over to the 'swamps' in Washington, Springfield, Il., etc.

And to the Madigans, Schumer, Pelosi, Waters, Collins, Jesse Jackson, the Muslim Brotherhood, etc. and all the idiots clamoring for impeachment. I hear there are those the likes of Socialist Billionaire Soros and his ilk who are in the process of developing a Muslim to be president in 2020. Yes, there are many good Muslims in the U.S.A.; just remember their were good Germans in Germany before and after Hitler took over.

Illinois State Politicians Biggest Spenders

Senator Dave Koehler - Big Spender of Taxpayer $

Democrat Dave Koehler was declared an enemy of taxpayers in a report released by the National Taxpayers United of Illinois established in 1976. For the period January 2007 - January 2009, members of the Illinois House and Illinois Senate were scored 0-100 as to how many times that they voted against tax hikes and against tax cuts.

Koehler, from Peoria, was the worst in voting scoring a 15%.
Republican Representative David Leitch was 2nd worst in scoring a 38 tied with Don Moffit of Galesburg. Leitch rails at the big spenders down in Springfield when addressing Republicans.
Republican Senator Dale Risinger was close with a 46% tied with Mike Smith of Canton

Best local friends of the taxpayer were Republicans Keith Sommers of Tazewell County with a 69% and Aaron Schock with a 62%. Best friends in the Senate were Senators Gary Dahl of Peru and John Jones of Mt. Vernon.

The average score in the House was 34% and in the Senate, 27%. The average score by party was House Democrats 22% and 13% in the Senate Democrats. (Surprised??) The majority of the taxpayer enemies were from Chicago or the Chicago area. Surprised, again???

The average score for House Republicans was 49% in the House and 50% in the Senate.

Still, there are not nearly enough friends of the taxpayers in Springfield. Thus, I'm hopeful the Tea Party people will do more than hold rallies. Holding rallies is helpful but NOT the solution. The solution is to get the more conservative, common sense types to run for office and then the big problem of funding them so they can get their stories out to the voters, 18% in the last local election.

So sad.

All significant tax increases or tax cuts and spending bills were included in the survey. Complete results can be found at the NTUI web-site www.NTUI.org

Deaths on our Roadways Part 2

“Bill would ID teen drivers” is a headline in Friday’s JS. Rep. David Leitch would have any driver under 18 who has a learners permit or graduated driver’s license would be required to have a sign attached to their vehicle indicating they are a new driver. Rep. Leitch says he got this idea from Metamora resident Amy De Fretias. He says the signs would need

Cross Road of a Great Nation

People tend to forget the deadly negative's of those they are planning to elect. These points listed below are basically correct, more facts need be added and hammered over and over to those who have not yet made up their minds. Polls show there are many.

Those unwilling to fight for freedom will lose it. If some say we are not free in this country now, I suggest they make honest comparisons of life in other countries starting with Cuba, Saudia Arabia, Egypt, Venezuela, Iran, Russia, Yeman, Rawanda and Zimbabwe, just to name a few.

Yes, we are not as free as we were 30 years ago but it is the terrorists here at home and those abroad who are largely responsible for the freedoms we have given up.

Read an article in today's WSJ titled "Privacy, We Got Over It" by L. Gordon Crovitz. He tells us that the digital life which we our now living is inherently a public life. He does not say we should stop being vigilant as to the ills of a socialistic big brother government. If Obama supporters think we already have that now in the United States, elect this man supported by all the countries mentioned above and they will find what true socialism is. Some of you would love to live in a socialist country so no big problem to them.

Most of us who value a capitalistic form of government will eventually not accept a socialistic way of life.

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN
15% (no change)

OBAMA
39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

2008 Post on Obama-McCain Presidential Election

JSEB Endorsement of Obama for President

There was never any doubt for those who read the details of what the JSEB printed. I'm sure it was an "agonizing" decision of Obama over McCain. As I've written and I believe the JSEB agrees, we could have made better choices for both parties. I agree there is no "limited government" candidate in this era of undisciplined and damaging spending.

That McCain's proposals run up more red ink than Obama's; the JSEB says by double or more, you're talking trillions. "Neither one is fiscally responsible", says David Walker of the Government Accountability Office, an organization which has never been able to even slightly slow down the spending by Congress, even in the last two years.

McCain's proposal of a 300 billion bailout to some homeowners somewhat mirrors what the Democrats are proposing now. Only, McCain meant to buy up delinquent payment homes from those who could afford to keep on making payments and keeping up their property values; and whose properties had move value than the mortgage, while making on time payments as opposed for forfeiture and eviction. No handing it out to the people Obama and Acorn are talking about; the ones who hardly have any or no equity in their homes but still fulfill Obama's dream of everyone owning their own home, afford it or not, and emulating FDR's, "a chicken in every pot". The later I can sympathize with, the former, I cannot.

Drill, baby, drill was like Obama's 57 state "slip". Many of the people who will vote for Obama never understood his slip because they do not know there are only 50 states in the United States, but there are 57 Islamic states. Some slip. As to drilling more in the U.S., the radical environmentalists, all who will be supporting Obama, have held up progress by filing one lawsuit after another on every new pursuit of energy dependence move in this country, making every effort to turn this country backwards similar to the land of the original inhabitants, pristine and peaceful. (How can they support subsidized windmills?)

With the Democrats in charge, oil will come back at higher prices than $140 a barrel because alternate energy now and in the forseeable future will make up or makes up only single digits percentage of world wide energy production. And Government incentives to alternate fuel will greatly increase under Obama if he fulfills his promise to people like Boone Pickens, who has billions invested in alternate energy. Obama says that the U.S. will be independent of Mideast oil within 10 years. That's 2019, mark your calendars.

The JSEB says they don't see Obama as a bogeyman, a "bogeyman" is a racial slur. What others see is what has been verified by the conservative press and ignored by the left leaning media. We hear of Obama's "closer than he admits" relationships with unsavory people. We see the Arabs hoping he will win because he is a "Muslim brother" (their statements, not mine). We see Obama's wife, who after all these years of reaping the benefits of a free American society and now holding a $350,000 job with an entity that is given millions in government subsidies, she has only within the last few years, felt like an American.

We see Obama denying he believes like his preacher, Obama, after 20 years of listening to this man, the man who married the Obama's, Obama denying his relationship with Weatherman bomber Bill Ayers, now turned radical professor, his radical community organizing in Chicago with Ayers as a mentor, including his relationships with corrupt ACORN, his connections with foreign despots, his elitism while claiming to be more compassionate than the McCain's. We see an Obama as a slick orator with limited leadership experience, a man who will appoint judges who make decisions based on empathy. He will thank ACORN by granting them more government funds and he will welcome extremist Michael Moore, Bill Ayers, and the nut from Iran to the White House bedrooms. He will cut funding to our friend, the country of Columbia and increase it to Columbia University and the University of Chicago and all its tentacles; both hotbeds of left leaning liberal professors, and he will propose eventually considerably reduce funds to Israel.

We see a man who is sincere about one thing out of all the many promises he is making; he will "spread the wealth" and his compassion will know no bonds. Illegals will be accepted as citizens as long as they have been here a while. They will have higher education benefits, same as citizens, drivers licences and illegals who come to America to have their babies will be always welcomed as full citizens.

Not mentioned by the JSEB is Obama's sincere statements that he will appoint judges who interpret the constitution they way they wish, meaning that emotions and feelings such as "empathy trumps guilt" and these judicial decisions will override all other considerations.

The JSEB say we voters can change this in two years.

Sure, we can. Not unless the liberal left leaning press all lose their jobs.

The JSEB believes that current conditions will cause an Obama or McCain to cut back on deficit spending and reduce taxes. McCain will reduce taxes on businesses to encourage more private spending and more jobs. Obama plans to shift the spending to more compassionate social spending and government funded infrastructure building neither adding to the GDP. And quickly add more taxes on the profits of the rich to make the U.S. leader in corporate taxation in all the free world.

And the JSEB notes that McCain puts politics first when he picked a woman as his running mate. If she was a homely woman and a good Democrat like the JSEB endorsed for Illinois State governor in 1994, the so called year of the woman, so popular that I forgot her name, would have been more acceptable than just a popular, nice looking, exuberant, common sense State Governor and a family person.

Always thinking of press "copy" the JSEB concludes, "It never hurts to have a guy from Illinois in the White House".

Well, warts and all, I endorse McCain and Palin over an avowed left leaning socialist and his running mate who is a "been around too long old party hack".

But both candidates are wrong in continuing to build a fence separating the U.S. from Mexico. There are better ways, see my previous blogs. And McCain is going to have a tough time reducing the size of our bloated government which he promises to do while Obama promises to expand it. McCain needs to press for reduced spending. Cutting back on earmarks is not that much money and very difficult to determine what is an earmark. Example, is the funding from the highway bill to build a new parking garage for the possible Peoria museum, an earmark? Don't think you'd have a museum supporter saying it's an earmark.

And what if Schock brought back no "earmarks" from D.C.? Would he get reelected?

Creativity Gap

An article in The School Administrator in February discusses the creativity gap between Americans and Asians. It states that Asians think more as a group and their constant obligations to the group and not to bring shame to the group. American parents and educators overall have low academic expectations of their students which is a sign that American parents and educators define success more broadly and strongly emphasis children as individuls and that it is important to respect their wishes and abilities.

Asian parents put a higher value on grades and test scores pressuring their kids that academic success is important not for personal reasons, but to please others. Asians are more apt to use a standardized and centralized curriculum.
The article states that "teaching at the same pace and from the same textbook for all students leaves little time for exploring individual interests. Creativity cannot be taught but it can be killed. The creativity gap exists because American schools teach creativity and do not kill it as much as do Asians."

Asians parents place an extremely high value on external indicators-grades, test scdores, and most importantly, admission to prestigous universities. Excessive or exclusive focus on external indicators of success such as grades and test scores can pressure children, sending the message that academic success is important, not for personal reasons, but to please others.

The article continues stating that more people crossing national borders requires communities to become increasingly diverse culturally and racially. Communities need to provide services that are culturally sensistive and linguistically competent to new immigrants, to attract international investments and tourists, and to get on the global stage. What used to be required of a small group of individuals - diplomats, translators,cross-cultural communications or international tour guides - has become necessary for most all professions.

Many American students lack sufficient knowledge about the rest of the world including languages and cultures and are not prepared to compete and lead in a global workforce. Most American schools do not teach foreign languages until high school which is a little too late and even in high school, most students are not required to take any foreign language. By contrast, in China, English is required beginning, in some cases, as early the first grade.

Much the same is true in South Korea, Taiwan and other nations. Whatever is happening in distant places of the world now affects communities worldwide. Terrorism, environmental destruction, disease and political unrest have all acquired a global nature. To understand what is going on in the world and the requirement to appreciate the interconnectedness and interdependence of peoples to respect and protect cultural diversity is required to ensure the very survival and continuity of human civilization.

This is a difficult assignment for American educators. NCLB already has squeezed out most room for any subjects other than what is being tested. The frightening description of job losses due to offshoring, trade deficit, foreign terrorists and the rise of developing countries and how children in other countries will "eat the lunch" of American children adds to the challenge for educators to convince a very American-centric public that helping our children develop a sense of global citizenship is actually a good thing.

Our well-being is is forever connected to that of other people in other countries. Our prosperity cannot be sustained in isolation from other countries.

"We know test scores don't predict the future of other individuals and nations. Author Daniel Goleman wrote the following in his classic book Emotional Intelligence: Why it Can Matter More Than IQ: "One of psychology's open secret is the relative inability of grades, IQ or SAT scores, desite their popular mystique, to predict unerringly who will succeed in life..At best, IQ contributes about 20% to the factors that determine life success, which leaves 80% to other forces."

I have written several blogs saying that there is too much emphasis on test scores. If we want to retain the creativity that has always separated this country from many others, especially in times of conflict, will not come from holding schools accountable for just adequate yearly progress in test scores. AP, AYP and similar measures have the greatest potential to destroy students' chances of success by forcing schools to narrow their curriculum, teachers to teach to the test and the public to adopt a single criteria to measure the success of students, teachers and schools. It aims to equip our children with knowledge easily found in other countries while squelching creativity and talents that are truly valuable.

"Instead of becoming more like others who are eager to become Americans, American education needs to be more American-to preserve flexibility, protect individuality and promote multiple intelligences. American education also needs to become more global - adopt a global perspective, add foreign languages and cultures and advocate global inter-realtionships."

Many people in Peoria thought it was wrong to bring in Chinese teachers and they made some good points. So many kids have no interest in learning and can hardly read and write. Often, at levels far below the level of many of thier peers. We must accelerate separating those who do not see the advantage of learning, after repeated failures of parents and teachers to show them why they need to learn, especially to read and reason well, from many who are eager to learn all they can. We fail because too many people believe one can only succeed without a higher education degree. We fail because we believe all our kids are higher level college material. They are not. Just because someone graduates from a college or university and makes more money than another or has an impressive title, does not make that person a greater success. Life was never going to a utopia where everybody is a Chief. Getting kids to believe that they are all going to be Chiefs' is a major failing of our American system.

You will not find my name in the top half of any high school or college graduating class. But I would not trade the creativity I acquired for all the rigourous, structured "rote" learning of any American or Asian school. Now this rote learning in America is driving many kids out of school before they are ready to accept and handle responsibility. They are not being sold or buying why they need to study and learn and pass all types of tests other than grade tests. And many teachers are caught in the middle; good scores or you are not a good teacher.

Too bad.

Creative people have ideas, behaviors, beliefs and lifestyles that that deviate from the norm and tradition. Research has found that, in general, tolerance of deviation from tradition and norm results in more creativity. Without American creativity, we would today probably not be a free country.

Obama's Fake Paris Agreement

Thank God for President Donald Trump..Merle

THE PARIS AGREEMENT

Confused about the Paris agreement and why Trump chose to get us out? Róisín Michele clarifies brilliantly.

Something to seriously ponder in regards to the Paris Climate Agreement:

In December 2015, nine months before the end of his presidency, Barrack Obama signed the Paris Accord. The United States did not. In order to ratify it as a treaty 2/3 of the Senate had to approve it. Obama told us it was not a treaty, but an executive agreement between himself and other nations. The Paris agreement was an agreement only with the Obama Administration, and an unratfied treaty in which case it had no effect. The Constitution's separation of powers prevents the President from binding the country unilaterally. Our system does not divide authority into spheres controlled exclusively by the Senate, House and President. It requires combinations of offices to work together.

Obama's counterparties in Paris knew he lacked the support to bind our country. In fact, they watered down the wording of the agreement to support Obama's contention that it did not require ratification.

Examples: they changed the word "shall" to "should" in many places in order to avoid calling it a treaty. The negotiators choose between a treaty that would bind the United States and the promise of an outgoing president. Any claims that Trump or the United States "is going back on its word" is disingenuous. Only Obama gave his word and the other parties in Paris helped design the agreement to throw our Constitution out the window.

Obama ignored his constitutional duty to submit treaties to the Senate. In fact, a statement from the Obama White House said it all when the White House signaled it would bypass the Senate no matter what by saying " I think it's hard to take seriously from some members of Congress who deny the fact that climate change exists, that they should have some opportunity to render judgment about a climate change agreement."

Under the agreement Obama signed, the UN would have called the shots on what we did within our own borders to protect the climate. They would have also had the power to punish us through embargoes and trade agreements.

Under Obama's agreement, China, and the world's major polluters, would be ALLOWED to increase their emissions where the United States could not. India is hinging its participation on billions of dollars of foreign aid.

The agreement was less about the climate and more about other countries gaining financial advantage over the United States. This was a United Nations program that gave foreign leaders in Europe and Asia more say with respect to the United States economy then we do. It would have handicapped the United States economy - it was a deal that would have punished the United States, while imposing no obligations on the world's leading polluters.

China would be allowed to build hundreds of additional coal plants, but we could not, according to the agreement. India would be allowed to double its coal production by 2020, but we would have to get rid of ours. Even Europe would have been allowed to continue construction of coal plants, but we could not.

Obama's requirements in the Paris Accord would have cost the United States economy nearly $3 trillion.

By 2040 our economy would lose 6.5 million industrial sector jobs including 31 million manufacturing sector jobs. It would decapitate our coal industry which now supplies one-third of our electric power.

It imposed unrealistic targets on the United States for reducing our carbon emissions, while giving countries like China a free pass. China would actually be allowed to INCREASE emissions until 2030.

Obama committed $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund - which is about 30 percent of the initial funding - WITHOUT being authorized by Congress.

We are already $20 trillion in debt; US taxpayers should not be paying to subsidize other countries' energy needs.

The United States is already a Clean Energy and Oil & Gas Energy Leader. We can reduce our emissions and continue to produce American energy without the Paris Accord. America has already reduced its carbon-dioxide emissions dramatically (who remembers those yearly emission tests). The United States is the leader in oil and gas production.

For anyone who thought the Paris Accord was all about clean river and air, it is not and never was.
THE AGREEMENT WAS TO FUND A UNITED NATIONS CLIMATE SLUSH FUND UNDERWRITTEN BY THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS.

Lydia Bradley - Will - 9/8/1892 and Codicil Dated 2/16/1903

I have a copy, approximately 30 pages, with her signature and signature of witnesses. I find interesting the changes she made in her Codicil and wonder whether the "Bradley Fund" she created was ever fully legally appropriated and if it exists today.

It appears the Probate Clerk, Charles A. Roberts made an error by writing 1908 as sworn.

But here is what the will states that I find most interesting. Under 3rd., her last will states "in no event license or permit the sale or other distribution of intoxicating drinks of any kind within said park" (Bradley Park) etc.

When Rt. 74 was constructed, Bradley Park was separated leaving a small parcel that was later became a minor league baseball field today called "Shea Stadium" while the ball park, Meinen Field moved downtown and is known as the Peoria Chiefs.

As I understand and could be wrong,, no liquor was sold at or on this parcel of land until Pete Vonachen became involved. Some may recall that Pete served on the Peoria Park District Board, who was steward of this parcel, and was succeeded on the PPD Board by his son, Rocky.

I was appointed  in 1992 to the PPD Recreation Advisory Committee by Tim Cassidy, President on thee PPD Board of Trustees. I resigned in October of 1995 due to my purchase of a home in Sun Lakes, AZ. During the time of Rocky Vonachen's term on the board, 7 out of 13 meeting of the Recreational Committee due to "nothing to talk about".

Now liquor is distributed an sold at most Peoria Park District Facilities.

Interesting. Hm.

Just a reminder. "Meinen Field" was traded back to Bradley University for 40 acres of farm land at the corner of Fox Rd. and Rt.93 Or 92?? Bradley paid $13,000.00 an acre, way above the going price at that time. In 1992, when I ran for Park Board President against Cassidy, the Peoria Park District through Cassidy and Noble, was committed to build a huge sports complex as widely touted by the JS.

The land is still farm;land. (All in all, Bradley bought over a million dollars of farmland in that area. To my knowledge, it is still farmland). The JS, in their hatred for me, never broached the subject again as to what then was traded for Meinen???

The JSEB is concluding seminars on hw to identify "fake news".

Oh, dear God!!!!!!!!!
