Cross Road of a Great Nation

People tend to forget the deadly negative's of those they are planning to elect. These points listed below are basically correct, more facts need be added and hammered over and over to those who have not yet made up their minds. Polls show there are many.

Those unwilling to fight for freedom will lose it. If some say we are not free in this country now, I suggest they make honest comparisons of life in other countries starting with Cuba, Saudia Arabia, Egypt, Venezuela, Iran, Russia, Yeman, Rawanda and Zimbabwe, just to name a few.

Yes, we are not as free as we were 30 years ago but it is the terrorists here at home and those abroad who are largely responsible for the freedoms we have given up.

Read an article in today's WSJ titled "Privacy, We Got Over It" by L. Gordon Crovitz. He tells us that the digital life which we our now living is inherently a public life. He does not say we should stop being vigilant as to the ills of a socialistic big brother government. If Obama supporters think we already have that now in the United States, elect this man supported by all the countries mentioned above and they will find what true socialism is. Some of you would love to live in a socialist country so no big problem to them.

Most of us who value a capitalistic form of government will eventually not accept a socialistic way of life.

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN
15% (no change)

OBAMA
39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

INCOME TAX

MCCAIN

(no changes)
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN
- 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

Merle, have you become aware of the Democrat bill H.R.800, the Employee Free Choice Act, also known as Card Check? Funny that no news orgs have covered it. It has passed the house but filibustered in the Senate. If it becomes law it increases socialism, reduces fundamental Democracy in the union organizing process, wrecks businesses, increases prices and ruins the economy. And it surely increases the sway unions will have over Democrat legislators with the millions that unions will receive from increased dues. Of course those dues will be at the expense of consumers who have to pay higher prices when newly unionized businesses increase prices.

William,

I have been following this alarming story on the mis-named Employee Free Trade Act. The latest story "Don't Let Companies Intimidate Employees Who Want Unions" written by a liberal Democrat college professor and "Labor Unions Need More Power Over Work Force" wtitten by Doug Stafford a VP with the National Right to Work Committee, appeared in the Journal Star today.

While I know the labor unions have done a lot of good since their inception a couple centuries ago, I know that this is a blatant union attempt to coerce company employees to join a union where bad workers, slackers and bullies are paid the same as the other hard working, dependable and responsible, union workers.

When people daily see the disasters wrought by the teachers unions, the heavily unionized auto industry and some of the public unions, I do not see how our lawmakers could subject workers to an exposed vote rather than a secret ballot where it is your business how you vote. And not be made to defend an opposing vote to union bosses.

Many unions claim businesses harass workers. Many unions and their bosses harass the worker and the very companies that give them their livelyhood. Unfortunately, some companies and some workers. deserve it

I will blog on this disatrous bill as I should have done months ago.

As I've said in my previous blogs, an Obama/Biden administration will drive this country into total socialism.

I'm pleased with the pick of Palin; she has more executive experience than McCain, Obama and Biden and she is not a radical "feminist".
