Sensible Gun Rights? Probably Not

I need to find a list of all the legislature that oppose sensible gun rights. But then knowing that most of the people we elect couldn't hold a real job in real life except through nepotism, cronyism, inheritance, or sheer luck of being in the right place at the right time. Don't expect that many of OUR REAL PROBLEMS will be solved by the majority of those who hold control over the intelligent citizenry.  Merle

Dear merle,

This week, lawmakers return to Springfield with one thing on their minds:

Restricting your right to keep-and-bear arms, now that concealed carry is law of the land.

Their solution is to throw as many gun owners in jail as they can, for as long as possible, for even the slightest oversights.

More on that on a minute ...

As you may know, this past summer, Illinois became the final state in the country to pass a concealed carry bill.

Sadly, lawmakers did not do it because they wanted to.

They certainly didn't do it because they support your Second Amendment rights.

They did it because the courts made them, and they are furious about it.

What they gave you was a "concealed carry" law among the nation's most restrictive.

It forces you to pay fees, shoot like an Olympian, and submit yourself to the government review like a common criminal just to carry your lawfully possessed firearm for self-defense.

But that's not good enough for the gun-grabbers.

Now, they're pushing House Bill 2265, an attempt straight from billionaire-playboy New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's playbook to throw you in jail for minor paperwork oversights.

Under this bill, you could be:

*** Tossed in prison for three to seven years for carrying a firearm outside your home.

If you have even the slightest issues with either your Firearms Owner ID (FOID) card or your Concealed Carry Licenses you may be locked up for a mandatory minimum of at least three years, or perhaps a lot longer.

*** Tossed in prison for possessing a firearm INSIDE your own home.

Having a gun in your home is something the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled to be protected under the Second Amendment. But it could land you in jail for the same three to seven years if you don't have, or if there are any issues with your FOID card.
I hope you're as mad about this as I am.

After all, this bill flies in the face of the recent State Supreme Court decision which struck down the ban on concealed carry outside the home.

Last month, for the second time in as many years, the Illinois Supreme Court has swatted down the legislature's anti-gun agenda.

This time throwing out the law that bans concealed carry
.

Don't get excited about that just yet. This ruling still leaves holes for your gun rights.

Worse, your lawmakers are frantically trying to get around court rulings so they can undermine the modest gains its rulings have brought gun owners in Illinois in recent years.

In the process, I'm afraid what they'll pass may result in gun owners being rounded up in scores, each charged with the Class 2 felony it calls for, and tossed in jail
.

HB-2265 could be heard in the Democrat controlled House Rules Committee soon after they reconvene.

You can help put a stop to it, or any other anti-gun scheme lawmakers in Springfield may try to impose on you while they're back.

Here's you can do to help:

1.) Click here to contact the House Rules Committee members.

Insist they vote against HB-2265, and any other anti-gun bill that may come before them.

2.) Contact your legislators by clicking this link.

Or call
(217) 782-5350 for your State Representative and (217) 782-2728 for your State Senator.

Urge them to vote against all anti-gun legislation, especially any bill like HB-2265 that could result in tossing otherwise law-abiding gun owners in jail.
Lawmakers come back on Tuesday.

Please do not wait to take action.

For Freedom,

Dudley Brown
Executive Vice President
P.S. Your state lawmakers are working on a scheme to toss as many otherwise law-abiding gun owners behind bars for three to seven years.

They're hell-bent on rolling back the modest gains you have made over the past two years by passing anti-gun schemes like HB-2265.

It is simply amazing that they spend so much time trying to create new laws specifically aimed at the legal gun owners while Chicago has proven those laws don't work. If they'd spend half the time trying to find ways to cut the fat out of the budget to eliminate our debts, we'd be far better off.
