If you want to make a difference in a race for Congress, you can right here in Peoria County. With redistricting, Democrats who drew the new boundaries cut Peoria County in half. The southern half now is in the 17th District represented by Republican Bobby Schilling who is up for his first re-election. The northern half remains in Aaron Schock's 18th District.
National Democrats and Left-wing interest groups have put Bobby Schilling on their TOP TEN list of targets in the entire country. But lest they get their hopes up too high, one of the nation's most respected polling firms released the results of their poll on the race between Bobby Schilling and Democrat Cheri Bustos and it showed Schilling leading by 16% just two weeks ago. We all must work hard to maintain that lead. Bobby Schilling's re-election will put the nail in the coffin of Nancy Pelosi's crusade to regain her old position as Speaker of the House. We are in a ground zero district that will make a huge difference in whether we maintain our majority. Most people in the country find themselves in a strong Democrat or Republican district with little ability to really make a difference. The 17th District is going to be one of the most contested districts in the nation in 2012. Even if you live in the 18th District, you can still help volunteer for Bobby Schilling. If he wins re-election he will continue to be a partner with Aaron Schock in providing our party with two votes in the House. If he should lose, Aaron Schock's votes will be cancelled by Cheri Bustos on almost every issue.
Congressman Aaron Schock has made Bobby Schilling's re-election his top priority this year. State Senator Darin LaHood will serve as Bobby Schilling's Peoria County Coordinator. But we need large team of Schilling volunteers in Peoria County to do what it takes to win.
Please join us Wednesday evening. We will lay out what the Schilling campaign needs to accomplish in Peoria County and then discern what each of you are willing to do, what activities you want to do, what your abilities and talents are best suited to do and what your time availability will be between now and Election Day. Our objective is to have hundreds of volunteers each doing a little that together will add up to a formidable effort in Peoria County. Whether you want to volunteer every week or just a few times between now and Election Day, we urge you to attend. This will be our only meeting of all Schilling volunteers in the county. After that volunteers will meet as needed for the activies you sign up for.
