The Life and Death of My Son-in-Law; Bill Greytak

William Ray Greytak of Edwardsville, IL died Saturday November 6, 2010 in his home surrounded by family and close friends after a long and debilitating illness. Born in Butte, MT to Alda and Martin Greytak, Bill was one of seven boys. Until his early 20’s, Bill lived in Long Beach, CA before relocating to St. Louis, MO to live with his brother David who was attending Washington University. While Bill continued in school he took a job working in the warehouse for a St. Louis office furniture company. He became the major owner of the business and took it to the next level. After selling his ownership in the business he started a then new concept in the industry, office furniture remanufacturing, which helped spur on an entire new industry. Bill was a mentor to many and a champion of the ability to give someone a second chance in life. Despite his illness, he remained optimistic and showed a brave face to his family and community. He will be remembered and loved by his surviving family, wife Mary Jo Greytak (Widmer-Richie), daughters Alisa Kelley (Dan Kelley) and Stephanie Greytak (Bob Heinemann), and sons Josh Richie (Rebecca Richie) and Bill Greytak, and grandchildren Alexander, Nicholas, Emilee, Maxwell, Joshua (Wid), Lora, Ryan, Lucy and Olivia. Proceeding him in death are his mother and father, Alda and Martin, his brother, David, and his ex-wife, Pat, mother of Alisa and Stephanie
