Peoria County Health Department Release

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From: Kristin Grubb

Subject: SEASONAL FLU VACCINE SHIPMENT DELAY

The Health Department is awaiting delivery of its full seasonal flu vaccine order. At this time, the Department has only received a limited amount of our original order. Additionally, our supplier has stated that they cannot confirm a delivery date for our remaining vaccine (sometime between 10/05 - 11/05). Therefore, the Department has suspended its seasonal flu vaccination clinics until further notice.

We are encouraging Peoria County residents to utilize other local opportunities such as physician offices and pharmacies to get their seasonal flu shot. This issue of shipment delays appears to be common throughout Illinois. A number of local health departments have expressed concerns regarding seasonal flu vaccine delivery; although federal health authorities maintain there is ample supply of the vaccine across the nation.

A Media Release is being developed this morning for distribution.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.
