Imax CEO Confident Confident About the Movie Business

Reporting from Davos, Imax CEO believes that the movie business would remain "fairly recession proof". His company will benefit from the release of the new "Star Trek" film and the latest "Harry Potter" epic.

Releases of this calibre are usually made available to privately owned Imax theatres before they are released to the public sector. Even then, tax supported theaters are in competition to the tax paying private sector whose theaters are offering a more sophisticated fare as new technology becomes available.

I don't know about anyone else, but IMAX theaters make me motion sick. Seriously...have to take dramamine beforehand! And I'm not a real motion-sickness-kind-of-girl-either. Don't get car sick, nothing on airplanes...

I love IMAX theaters. If the only way we can get one in Peoria is to have the government compete with the private sector, I'm all for it! My tax dollars put to good use I say.

The IMAX Theatre in Cedar Rapids, Iowa closed on Janurary 20,2008 for lack of attendance. This theatre was used by the Museum Group as a "Benchmark Theatre" in the proposal given to the County in January of 2009.

Imax stock $10.80 listed in July of 2006. It collapsed a few days later to $4.00 and change and has remained in that price range. $4.11today.

In one of my blogs, I quoted an article in the WSJ stating Imax attendance was on a 3 year decline.

CFRG website will probaly add that along with the total collected. The County Courier, published by Peoria County, says it will be in the neighborhood of $72 million.

Thanks for your inquiry. The other anonymous has a limited vocabulary and his wife must be on some type of diaper. She loses both ways. I'm told a depend is an adult diaper.
