JS Article Correction

John Sharp, JS reporter wrote in an article today "Businesses Granted Freedom With Signs", "more signs being erected (in Peoria County) without having any regulations in place".

John probably misunderstood as the ordinance change was heavily debated. No, a person cannot go into the county and put a billboard type sign without first getting a permit. Then the sign would have to meet all other rules as to #of feet from the road, size, location, etc.

Signs In Peoria County are regulated but not in such a restrictive manner as to drive businesses to other counties.

Visit www.peoriacounty.org for more deails on ordinances.
