Paul Manning, who says he is a veteran poses a question in a LTE in USA Today: If heterosexual males are attracted to females and forbidden to shower with them, (they can in many colleges, you know) how could it be acceptable for an out of the closet, gay soldier to be allowed to share showers with other heterosexual male soldiers?
Good question, Paul.
In my day it was don't ask, don't tell. No problems that I recall. Then came the publicity seeking gays posing as a greater minority than they are when polls indicate that approximately only 7% of the population are gays.
I was a 20 month veteran also. Me, personally, I'm not asking anybody their sexual orientation and nobody needs to tell me. As to Gay Pride parades, I say "shove it". I don't recall heterosexuals asking to be in parades with heterosexual banners.
Thanks.
