Mark Widmer 12/29/07

On December 9 at approximately 12:15 PM, my only son was killed instantly in a single vehicle auto accident on Zimmerman Road in Woodford County. His obituary can be found at www.h-p-w.com, December 12 archives, on Hinchliff Mortuary site.

I will write about my son at a later date. While he found, and sometimes seemingly made this world and his life difficult, he was a kind soul, loved by all his family. He deserves to have more of the contributions he made published somewhere. I plan to do so on this site.

My thanks will never be enough for all of those who supported my family and his mother Dee, in our times of great sorrow.

I do not plan to do much blogging until February. In the meantime, I wish all of you, friend, reader, acquaintance or other, a great 2008.

Dad, We loved him and he loved us. He took a part of each of us with him when he died and each of us will never be the same.

Love Nancy

Merle,
I come here often to read your blogs. I stopped by today to wish you a Happy New Year. I am so sorry you've lost your son. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
In my heart, I believe that he will be up with Uncle Ben, Aunt Ethel, Richard, and the whole Thomas clan..

Well, "Skip" as we called him in East Peoria High School, was one of the guys I admired as a teenager. He was smart, handsome, and funny. The girls flocked around him, and he was good at sports, if I recall correctly.

Of course, Mark became a cousin-in-law when I married your niece Debbie Hermann. We have since divorced, but I always thought it was nice to have been associated with the Widmer family in some way.

I will always remember Skip as a smiling, happy, friendly guy that I looked up to in high school, and hung around with as much as I could.

This is very sad. My prayers are with you all.
